A Fond Farewell From Diane Bourdeau
It is with mixed feelings that I must bid farewell to my family of co-workers and clients at Lien Animal Clinic and my West Seattle community. Later this spring, I will be moving to Oregon to join long time friends who are building a home in Salem. There will be four of us living together on the property. It is an incredible blessing and opportunity for me and I am grateful to be able to live together with these close friends in community and sharing.
It is very hard to put into words how much working at the clinic has meant to me. It has been a true pleasure to do this incredible work with my talented and dedicated co-workers. Over the years, I have also gotten to know and share so much with so many dear clients. We have laughed and cried together as we have shared the common bond of love for our animal companions.
I began my career at the clinic when Connie and Dr. King hired me in 1997. At the time that I started, Dr. Kraabel and Dr. Fritzler were working as associates in the practice. When they bought the practice, I worked with them. I did leave the clinic for a period of time to do some independent pet-sitting and to care for my great-niece while my niece and her husband were stationed here with the Coast Guard.
I was pleased to be able to return to the clinic in 2009 as an assistant to Dr. Fritzler, who was the Practice Manager at the time. Over the years, I have done a variety of jobs throughout the clinic - everything from Kennel to Exam Room Assistant to Facilities Manager.
I must say, however, that my favorite work in the clinic is in the front as a Client Services Representative. I often say that I get to change the world on a daily basis, one person, one interaction at a time. I am a problem solver and I love puzzles. And at times, the challenges that clients face with their pets and scheduling and getting the care they need are not straight-forward. Each person and their pet is an individual with distinct needs and I have made it my mission to try and fit what we can do at the clinic with those individual needs.
I have loved my work at the clinic and I will miss it immensely. I have been at the clinic for so long because I truly believe we are the best around. We strive for excellence every day. We are constantly improving our processes to keep up with the changes in the science and practice of veterinary medicine. And we do this because we care so deeply about providing the best care possible to people and their pets. I know this to be true because I work with this dedicated staff and have seen them in action. In addition, I personally have received incredible care for all of my beloved animals from this caring team.
Thank you all so much for providing me with this opportunity to know you and share in the love you have for your beloved pets. This time in my life has truly been the best so far. My heart is sad to leave but filled with gratitude for the time we have spent together.
